There are plenty of smiles and hilarious laughter in the city of Whittier and local cities these days. It can be attributed to Knee Slapperz Comedy founder Ruben Alvarez.
When asked about the concept and belief in his product, Alvarez stated, "I wanted to bring and establish a comedy club similar to the main stream clubs like the Ice House, Laugh Factory & Comedy Store to name a few."
The difference is that for many that live in this area, those venues are too far and often too expensive. At Knee Slapperz, Alvarez provides a place where you can come and enjoy not only a night of laughter, but it's tied in with dancing after the show for those who want to dance their laugh off. It's an all inclusive deal which includes a reserved table that the consumer can attain for a mere $10.00 pre-sale ticket. In addition, there is Free Parking & there is no Drink Minimum which is often the case at most other comedic establishments.
Since bringing Knee Slapperz to its in February 2013, it has been host to many sold out crowds and has also provided a fundraising avenues for local organizations and youth sports teams across the area.
Knee Slapperz has brought many of the top tier comics as seen on Comedy Central, HBO, Showtime, Tonight Show, Def Comedy Jam to the Knee Slapperz stage. Among them include, Paul Rodriguez, Jeff Ross, Martin Moreno, Willie Barcena, Monique Marvez, Jeff Garcia, Carlos Oscar, Luke Torres, Mike Marino, Eric Schwartz, Joey Medina, Cory N Chad, Rudy Moreno, Gilbert Esquivel, Jay Lamont and Shang to introduce a few.
With his current success and momentum, Alvarez is looking to expand his brand and continue doing bi-weekly and perhaps weekly events at The Manhattan Lounge.
One thing is certain, the new found stand up acts in Whittier and other local cities are definitely giving Knee Slapperz a standing ovation!
